Getting Your Footing

Today we finally have construction progress. The footings are in and the beginnings of two homes are finally in sight. You might be looking at these pictures and thinking lawn art or junk yard, but those rectangles are the base of the foundation for 2 soon-to-be-built Green townhomes in Seattle. Even though it’s January, I had specified high post-industrial recycled content cement (using Fly Ash, a waste byproduct of coal fired electric plants). The subs reduced the quantity of fly ash to better suit the cooler outdoor temperatures, resulting in a faster cure time (but a somewhat less “green” footing).
