Green Remodel – Done
Posted by admin, 8:50 PM

Just listed for sale the cute Victorian house which sits on the front of this lot where we put the townhomes. As a green builder, we are committed to green remodels too, which is an entirely different animal. Some items we greened up:
- brought natural gas to the house
- installed a Rinnai tankless water heater (approx. 50% energy savings)
- installed euro styled Roca radiators for heat
- No VOC paint on all walls (only a dollar more a gallon, I would gladly pay that not to embalm my family, referring to the formaldehyde in ‘regular’ paint)
- Water based hardwood finish (not the toxic swedish finish)
- salvaged lumber from the walls we removed, some we re-used, the rest is at 2nd Use,who paid me for it (see, not all Green remodeling choices are costly)
- salvaged the trim for reuse in the house
- Marmoleum flooring, made from all-natural linseed oil, very durable
- PaperStone 100% Certified (100% recycled paper content) countertops, from the Environmental Home Center in Seattle
- In-floor heat mat in master bath (not super green, but sure feels nice on the toes. Hey, green is not about absolute sacrifice, or we’d have live in Igloos!)
