The Alley House is on this month’s cover of Smart Home Owner magazine. You can grab it off the newsstand or sign up for a free trial online subscription. It’s the November/December issue but our newsstand had it today. The article inside is really well done too, they covered pretty much all the sustainble design features we incorporated into the home.
It is listed for sale currently at $699,000 (price reduced this week), and also featured on the Cascade Built website . Lower your carbon footprint. The home scored 51 on the HERS rating scale. That’s 51 on a scale of 0 to 100: zero being uses zero energy, 100 being energy use for a 2008 code-built brand new home. Ideally we’d be at zero, but we’re not there yet. Comps I have seen in the neighborhood claim to be eco friendly and Green, saying they have bamboo flooring and hydronic heat. Hmm, what is their HERS rating do you think?
This home was 3rd party inspected and verified to as to its energy performance. So wouldn’t you like a 50% discount on your utility bills this winter, and every winter after that?? I think you would, you smart home owner.
